amiiBot
amiiBot is a custom Discord bot created for the official r/amiibo Discord server. The bot communicates with users' accounts on amiibohunt.com, created by my friend Rob. The account also grabs data stored inside amiibohunt's servers such as current price, release date, and collection status. The bot is written in Java and is run on an external server in collaboration with Rob.
In Fall of 2022 I redesigned the bot to work with Discord's new bot command system. Unfortunately I had to scrap all of the code that I had previously written and start fresh. While I initially thought this would be frustrating, I found it very enjoyable and rewarding to go back and optimize my code from scratch. Since I now had a better idea on what the final product would be, I could design based on that. The new version of the bot launched in late 2022, and many users are still using it to this day.
